Nanjing Electric has achieved a milestone in the project to replace imported 550kV bushings for China Southern Power Grid.

For its outstanding achievements in import substitution and domestication, Nanjing Electric High-Voltage Bushing Co., Ltd. recently received the Third Prize Certificate for Achievement Transformation and Application for 2020, awarded by China Southern Power Grid Company.
A certain type of 550 kV extra-high-voltage oil‑paper capacitive bushing, imported from overseas, is in service in substantial numbers on both the State Grid and the Southern Power Grid. In recent years, several typical electrical‑performance failures have occurred domestically with this bushing; expert assessments have identified widespread latent defects. To ensure the long-term operational safety of the power grid, the Southern Power Grid initiated a project in early 2018 to commission domestic manufacturers to develop a domestically produced, equivalent 550 kV bushing, with plans to replace all such units across its network.
Relevant personnel from the Marketing and Technical Departments of the bushing company actively participated in multiple preliminary surveys and discussions conducted by China Southern Power Grid, engaged in in-depth technical exchanges with related transformer manufacturers, and presented a comprehensive feasibility study demonstrating that Nanjing Electric’s existing oil‑paper capacitor‑type bushings possess distinct advantages and can fully replace imported products—without requiring any modifications to the transformer’s core structure. Following rigorous evaluation by China Southern Power Grid and a formal bidding process, our company secured a favorable position as a successful bidder.
With the strong attention and support of company leadership, and through the concerted efforts and tireless dedication of all departments, our company achieved solid market results in the 2019 and 2020 projects to replace a major type of imported bushing for China Southern Power Grid. To date, China Southern Power Grid has replaced over 220 units of a certain type of imported bushing. Our company has secured supply contracts for a total of 96 units across nearly 20 substation projects, with excellent support and operational performance, and recently received the Third Prize for Achievement Transformation and Application from China Southern Power Grid.
Company leadership has emphasized that, in both the Southern Power Grid’s project to replace a specific type of imported bushing in its later‑stage phase and the State Grid’s planned initiative to replace foreign‑made bushings, the company should leverage its core strengths and resources, press ahead with sustained efforts, and strive for even greater achievements.
