Nanjing Electric’s independently developed ultra-high-voltage AC/DC wall bushings have been delivered and put into service.

On December 20, 2019, Nanjing Electric High-Voltage Bushing Co., Ltd. completed the delivery of a UHV AC/DC wall bushing—developed and supplied in-house for China Southern Power Grid—at the State Engineering Laboratory for UHV Transmission Technology (Kunming) of China Southern Power Grid. The product features multiple innovations and boasts a technological level that is domestically leading. Its insulation structure represents a world-first among comparable products.
This ultra‑high‑voltage AC/DC wall bushing is a composite silicone rubber–encased (oil‑gas insulated) AC/DC wall bushing rated at 800 kV AC and 1000 kV DC, measuring 18 meters in length and weighing 6 tons. Thanks to its innovative structure, advanced materials, and cutting‑edge technologies, this bushing weighs more than 40% less than conventional oil‑paper bushings, while delivering significantly superior performance across all key technical parameters. It features four major innovations: first, its outer jacket combines glass fiber with a composite silicone rubber sheath, offering lightweight construction and excellent mechanical flexural properties; second, it is filled with sulfur hexafluoride gas, which reduces weight and enhances insulation compared with oil‑based dielectrics; third, an oil‑paper insulating core is incorporated at the mounting flange to ensure uniform electric field distribution and mitigate field concentration; and fourth, the internal sulfur hexafluoride gas condition can be monitored and its data transmitted to the control room for real‑time display, complete with alarm functionality—a feature that represents a domestic first among similar products.
