Nanjing Electric has won the bid for the Qinghai–Henan Ultra-High-Voltage Direct Current Transmission Project.

On February 8, 2019, the E‑Commerce Platform of the State Grid Corporation’s Bidding Center announced the results of the tender for glass insulators in the State Grid Qinghai–Henan ±800 kV UHVDC transmission line project. Nanjing Electric Insulator Co., Ltd. won the contract to supply nearly 200,000 units, all of which are 550 kN bell‑type glass insulators. Delivery is scheduled from June to October 2019, with delivery locations within Henan and Shaanxi provinces.
As a key project under China’s 13th Five-Year Plan for Power Development, the Qinghai–Henan ±800 kV UHV DC transmission line is the first UHV corridor in China—and indeed worldwide—built exclusively to transmit clean energy. It represents a major innovation in China’s efforts to leverage UHV transmission technology to facilitate the large-scale development and utilization of new energy sources, and will serve as a model project for UHV construction in the new era. By promoting the Great Western Development and balanced regional development between eastern and western China, it will deliver significant economic, social, and environmental benefits.
