Ensuring Fire Safety to Support High-Quality Development — Nanjing Electric Holds Its 2022 Fire Safety Month Themed Activities

November 9, 2022, marked the 31st National Fire Safety Day. This year’s Fire Safety Month campaign was themed “Strengthen Fire Safety to Ensure High-Quality Development.” On the afternoon of November 24, Nanjing Electric Technology Group organized its 2022 fire evacuation drill and fire safety training, with over 100 participants from the group and its subsidiaries. Shen Qirong, Deputy General Manager of Baiyun Electric Group and General Manager of Nanjing Electric Technology Group, attended the event and delivered a concluding address, emphasizing that the entire company must prioritize safety, enhance fire safety awareness, intensify training, implement preventive measures, ensure fire safety, and promote high-quality enterprise development.
At 1:30 p.m. that day, Deng Junwen, Deputy General Manager of the Technology Group, Secretary of the Party Branch, and Chief Commander of the fire‑drill exercise, issued the order to commence. As the alarm sounded, all staff took their assigned positions, and the fire‑evacuation drill officially began. Fire‑evacuation guides in each office promptly organized employees for an emergency evacuation, racing against time to ensure safe escape and directing everyone inside the office building to the designated assembly point. Following this, a headcount was conducted at the emergency assembly point, and a fire‑safety training session was held. Feng Shuai from the Operations Management Department provided a live demonstration and detailed explanation of how to use a fire extinguisher. Participants actively volunteered to practice the procedure, gaining hands‑on experience with the equipment. Finally, Shen Qirong delivered a concluding address. The fire‑evacuation drill was conducted safely, orderly, and efficiently, taking just 3 minutes and 47 seconds; the entire exercise and training session lasted approximately 30 minutes, successfully achieving its intended objectives.
In his concluding remarks, Shen Qirong emphasized that ensuring fire safety is crucial for promoting the healthy and stable development of enterprises and constitutes an essential safeguard for protecting lives and property. On October 29, a major fire broke out at Nanjing Jinsheng Department Store, resulting in substantial property damage. Then, on November 21, an exceptionally severe fire struck Kaixinda Company in Anyang, Henan, tragically claiming the lives of 38 people. Both devastating fires have left us with profoundly sobering and deeply painful lessons.
Shen Qirong emphasized that cadres at all levels and the broad workforce must earnestly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important principle of “putting life first and safety above all else,” continuously strengthen and enhance all employees’ fire safety knowledge and emergency response capabilities, and ensure that, in the event of an emergency, they can act swiftly, respond with composure, and handle the situation scientifically, thereby preventing casualties. Moving forward, in both work and training, it is essential to further reinforce the study and practice of emergency response plans, raise employees’ safety awareness and emergency preparedness, and strive to achieve the goal of “coming to work happily and returning home safely.”
