Braving the pandemic to strike overseas, heroes return in triumph with their achievements.

The International Business Department of Nanjing Electric Technology Group Co., Ltd. recently held a welcome ceremony to honor Qi Guangming, the department’s business director, who returned to work after braving the pandemic to undertake overseas market missions and successfully completing his assignments.
In early spring 2022, as the global COVID‑19 pandemic continued to rage, the company faced a challenging export environment. International trade professionals seeking to venture abroad to tap new markets encountered formidable obstacles. Qi Guangming proactively volunteered to travel overseas, visiting countries such as Turkey to help the company expand into international markets. At the time, many in China found his decision hard to understand, for it amounted to “going straight into the tiger’s den despite knowing full well there are tigers.” Undeterred by pressure and willing to take risks, Qi Guangming boldly entered the international marketplace, demonstrating both his boldness and sense of responsibility.
Following the company leadership’s directives, Qi Guangming remained steadfast in his conviction of success, focusing on key markets and prioritizing strategic customers and flagship projects. On March 8, while ensuring rigorous pandemic‑prevention measures, he resolutely traveled abroad to Turkey, Chile, and other priority markets to spearhead market development efforts. This overseas mission lasted seven months and five days. Through painstaking and meticulous work, he secured export orders totaling nearly RMB 20 million. At the same time, three historic milestones were achieved: first, Nanjing Electric’s composite insulators entered the Turkish market for the first time, with subsequent expansion into Turkey and neighboring countries in the Middle East; second, these insulators were deployed for the first time on Turkey’s highest‑voltage transmission lines; and third, Nanjing Electric was the only Chinese‑invested enterprise to successfully win this contract, outcompeting well‑known local and international firms.
