Nanjing Electric’s 12 new ultra‑extra‑high‑voltage composite insulators have passed national‑level appraisal.

On the afternoon of March 3, 2019, the China Machinery Industry Federation convened in Nanjing a national-level appraisal meeting for twelve new products—1,000-kV AC and ±800-kV and ±500-kV DC rod‑type suspended composite insulators—developed independently by Nanjing Electric Insulator Co., Ltd. Following expert evaluation, the products’ overall technical performance was found to meet the internationally advanced standards of comparable products.
Leaders and experts from the National Energy Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Machinery Industry Federation, State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Company, the Electric Power Research Institute of China, the National Insulator and Surge Arrester Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the Electric Power Planning & Design Institute, the China Southern Power Grid Research Institute, the Jiangsu Provincial Electric Power Research Institute, and other organizations attended the meeting. A panel of 17 experts was convened to conduct the appraisal. The committee heard presentations on the enterprise’s product development summary, testing results, and techno-economic analyses, reviewed the appraisal documentation, and conducted preliminary on-site inspections of the production facility, followed by random sampling and on-site testing. Following a session of questioning and deliberation, the appraisal committee concluded that the twelve products—specifically, the DC ±800 kV and ±500 kV as well as the AC 1,000 kV rod‑type suspended composite insulators—feature a rational shed design and excellent electrical performance; they also exhibit high mechanical strength with low dispersion. The overall technical performance of these products has reached the internationally advanced level of comparable offerings, and the committee accordingly approved their technical appraisal.
