Three Gorges Project

The Three Gorges Project has attracted worldwide attention and demands exceptionally high standards of product quality and technological sophistication. Most of its hydroelectric transmission lines operate at the 500-kV ultra‑high voltage level. Since 1997, when Nanjing Electric (Group) Co., Ltd. supplied the first batch of tempered‑glass insulators for the Three Gorges transmission system, it has cumulatively provided 1.18 million tempered‑glass insulators for 31 500‑kV transmission lines—accounting for approximately 60% of the total insulators used in the project and about 80% of its glass insulators. The total line length exceeds 5,200 kilometers, contributing significantly to the localization of electromechanical equipment for the Three Gorges Project and yielding substantial economic and social benefits.
