On June 22, the Fifth Expanded Meeting of the Seventh Council of the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association was held in Penglai, Shandong Province. More than 300 representatives from key industrial enterprises, academic societies, chambers of commerce, industry associations, relevant government departments (such as the Departments of Industry and Information Technology and industry administration offices), and the media attended the meeting. Xu Xuefeng, Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Sun Bohuai, Chairman of the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association, and other dignitaries were present and delivered important speeches. The conference solemnly recognized model enterprises and exemplary individuals under the 2016 Demonstration Project for Modernized Enterprise Management in the Machinery Industry; Shen Qirong, General Manager and Party Secretary of Nanjing Electric (Group) Co., Ltd., was awarded the title of Outstanding Entrepreneur in the National Machinery Industry.

The selection and recognition program for outstanding and star entrepreneurs in the machinery industry is one of the projects retained following approval by nine State Council ministries and commissions after a review of evaluation, standard‑setting, and commendation activities. It constitutes an important component of the Machinery Industry’s Demonstration Project for Modern Enterprise Management and serves as a key platform—implemented by the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association—for advancing enterprise management across the sector and cultivating a cadre of distinguished business leaders. At the end of last year, in accordance with the spirit of the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association’s “Notice on Carrying Out the Selection and Recognition of Outstanding and Star Entrepreneurs in the Machinery Industry for the 2015–2016 Period” and taking into account our company’s specific circumstances, the General Manager’s Office submitted a nomination to designate our company’s principal leader, Shen Qirong, as a National Outstanding Entrepreneur in the machinery industry. The application and selection process for the eighth cohort of “National Outstanding and Star Entrepreneurs in the Machinery Industry” spanned nearly one year. Following the Association’s rigorous review procedures—including corporate self‑nominations, preliminary approval by provincial and municipal industry associations, initial screening and recommendation by the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association, public announcement and verification, and final adjudication by the Selection and Recognition Leading Group—the list of awardees was ultimately determined.

According to reports, candidates for the title of Outstanding Entrepreneur in the Machinery Industry must meet six criteria: First, they must have served as the enterprise’s principal leader for at least five years. Second, the enterprise they lead must conform to the modern corporate governance system, demonstrate outstanding business performance, and rank among the top in its industry in key economic indicators. Third, they must operate in compliance with the law, pay taxes in accordance with the law, honor contractual commitments, and maintain a strong reputation; during their tenure, no major environmental pollution, quality‑related, or safety incidents may have occurred. Fourth, the entrepreneur must embody advanced management principles, have achieved management‑innovation results at or above the ministerial level, and possess notable accomplishments in entrepreneurship, innovation, and driving the enterprise’s sustained growth, while ensuring the enterprise’s long-term sustainability. Fifth, both the enterprise and the entrepreneur must enjoy a positive public image and voluntarily assume social responsibility. Sixth, the enterprise must have been recognized as a “Model Enterprise for Management Progress,” a “Modernized Management Enterprise,” or awarded a credit rating of AAA or higher within the machinery industry.
